The treatment

What is Pore Refining and what is it used for?

As the skin produces new collagen, it becomes firmer and more refined, which can help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and improve the overall texture and quality of the skin.

For me, it's a lovely treatment when you're looking for that smoother, tighter, more refined skin without a lot of downtime.

Is it for you

Who is Pore Refining right for?

Pore Refining is ideal for someone who feels their pores are becoming more noticeable and wants their skin to look smoother, tighter and more refined. The low-level thermal laser gently heats the deeper layers of the skin, encouraging collagen remodelling and helping to improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven texture and early signs of skin laxity.

It's particularly lovely for someone who wants to improve the quality and refinement of their skin without an aggressive resurfacing treatment. It can be used on areas such as the face where pores are more noticeable, and it's also a beautiful option when you're starting to see that your skin isn't quite as firm or smooth as it once was.

If your main concern is pigmentation, acne scarring or significant scarring, however, Pore Refining would not be the treatment I would choose as your primary treatment. I have other, more specific treatments for those concerns, and I'd rather put you into the treatment that is actually designed to address what you want to change.

Before you book

Who is not suitable for Pore Refining?

It's not the treatment I would choose if your main concern is pigmentation, significant acne scarring or deeper scarring. Those concerns need a more specific approach, and I'd rather direct you to the treatment that is actually designed to address them.

I'll also ask you to wait if your skin is sunburned, recently tanned, irritated, inflamed, broken or still healing from another treatment. Because this is a light-based treatment, I'll also need to consider your medications, medical history and any factors that may make your skin more sensitive to light or affect healing.

If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, I'll ask you to postpone treatment. And if you've had recent injectable treatments in the area, we'll allow those to settle before treating.

Most importantly, Pore Refining is about refining what you already have. It's not designed to give you a dramatic overnight transformation.

Mechanism

How does Pore Refining work?

Pore Refining is a laser treatment that delivers controlled heat into the skin without removing the surface, encouraging collagen remodelling and helping to improve skin firmness, elasticity and overall refinement.

I particularly like this approach for pore refining because we're working gently and progressively rather than aggressively resurfacing the skin. The aim is to encourage your own collagen to remodel, so that the skin gradually becomes smoother, firmer and more refined.

Pricing

How much does Pore Refining cost in Double Bay?

Pore Refining is priced according to the area we're treating, with treatments starting from around $300 per session.

Because this is a very targeted treatment, you don't necessarily need to treat your entire face. If your main concern is a particular area where your pores are more noticeable, we can focus the treatment there and keep the investment appropriate to what you actually need.

The exact price will be discussed with you before we begin, once I've assessed your skin and decided how much of the area needs to be treated. Your treatment includes your skin assessment, preparation, the laser treatment itself and personalised aftercare advice.

In Kelly's words

The one thing I wish people knew

The one thing I find myself explaining most often is that Pore Refining is about improving the quality and appearance of your skin, it isn't about permanently removing your pores.

Everyone has pores, and we need them. What we can do is use controlled thermal laser energy to encourage collagen remodelling around the pore, helping the skin become firmer, smoother and more refined so that the pores appear less noticeable.

I also want you to understand that this is a progressive treatment. You may notice your skin feels smoother and looks a little fresher after your first treatment, but the more beautiful refinement develops as your skin continues to produce and remodel collagen.

Questions

The questions I'm asked most

Can I combine Pore Refining with other treatments?

Absolutely. I can tailor the combination to your skin, your goals, your lifestyle and your budget.

Results vary from person to person.
