Facial thread vein removal is where I use laser energy to target those little visible blood vessels, usually around the nose, cheeks and other areas of the face.
Facial thread vein removal is for those little visible red vessels that you can see through the skin, particularly around the nose, nostrils, cheeks and sometimes the chin.
Over time, removing those little vessels can really add to that beautiful, clear, strawberries-and-cream complexion.
It's ideal if you're wanting a clearer, more even complexion and you're bothered by those little red veins that can make the skin look more flushed or uneven. It's also a lovely treatment for people prone to redness, once the overall redness has calmed, because clearing those remaining vessels can really refine and brighten the overall appearance of the skin.
I won't treat you if the skin we're working on is sunburned, recently tanned, irritated, inflamed, broken or still healing from another treatment. I'll also ask you to wait if you've got an active flare-up or anything happening in the skin that I feel needs to settle first.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have epilepsy, or are taking medication that makes your skin particularly sensitive to light, this treatment isn't suitable at that time.
And I'm not going to treat something if I'm uncertain about the outcome. I want to know that the treatment is appropriate for your skin and that I can give you a result I'm happy to put my name to.
For facial thread veins, I use the Fotona laser.
If you've never had it before, it feels a little bit sharp and warm, but I have ice-cold Cryo air blowing over your skin and I use a cooling ultrasound gel as well.
It only takes seconds to treat each individual thread vein. If I'm treating a larger vein on your nose, I'll usually spend around 5 to 6 seconds on that particular vein.
If we're treating the whole nose, you might have around 10 veins on each side of the nostrils. From the time I start the laser treatment to when I'm finished, the actual treatment time is usually around 10 minutes.
We'll be guided by how your skin and vessels respond, but in general, one treatment is often enough, with a possible follow-up around four weeks later.
Every vessel can behave differently. Some vessels need a couple of treatments, while others can respond immediately and disappear after the first treatment.
Sometimes people never need to come back for that particular vessel, while other, lighter vessels may gradually reappear. That's why this can also become part of your maintenance treatments.
Whenever we're doing the bulk of your skin treatments, I can look at your thread veins at the same time and treat them as needed, so we can keep everything looking beautifully clear and even.
The downtime really depends on how large the vessel is. If we're treating a larger vessel, particularly on the nose, you can sometimes get a little bit of purposeful bruising to the skin. This is intentional and usually settles within about nine days.
Treated vessels may look darker or more noticeable before they fade.
If we're treating smaller vessels, you may not see anything at all. They can pretty much disappear before our eyes during the treatment, with very little visible downtime afterwards.
In general, it's about $350 to do your nose veins.

I wish people understood that these little vessels can be much easier to treat than they think, but the result isn't always about doing everything in one hit.
Some will disappear almost immediately before your eyes, while others can take a little longer to clear. Larger vessels may need a second treatment.
Some people never see those particular vessels again, while others may develop lighter vessels over time, which we can treat as part of your maintenance.
