CoQ10

Call Kelly

CoQ10 is a naturally occurring antioxidant.

The treatment

What is CoQ10 and what is it used for?

I like it for ageing and environmentally stressed skin.

Is it for you

Who is CoQ10 right for?

I'm drawn to it for mature, tired or environmentally stressed skin, particularly when I want to give the skin an additional antioxidant step after treatment.

It's especially useful when the focus is on overall skin quality, resilience and healthy ageing, rather than treating one specific concern. As with my other active serums, I choose when to add it based on what we've just done and what your skin needs on the day.

Before you book

Who is not suitable for CoQ10?

I'm mindful of using CoQ10 when the skin is very irritated, acutely inflamed, broken, infected or otherwise compromised. In those situations, I'd rather let the skin settle and recover before introducing another active.

I'll also consider what we've just done to the skin and how it is responding on the day. Sometimes the most appropriate treatment is simply to give the skin time to do its own work.

Mechanism

How does CoQ10 work?

dermaviduals Coenzyme Q10 nanoparticles

It is a pipette-bottle formulation containing coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) in a phosphatidylcholine nanoparticle dispersion.

I apply Dermaviduals CoQ10 topically at the end of selected treatments, in much the same way I use my EGCG serum. I particularly like adding it after LED light therapy, and it can also be applied following selected laser treatments when I feel the skin will benefit from the additional active.

It becomes an extra step within the treatment rather than something I simply send you home with.

Pricing

How much does CoQ10 cost in Double Bay?

Coenzyme Q10, $35 add-on

Applied to the full face, neck and chest following LED light therapy or selected laser treatments.

In Kelly's words

The one thing I wish people knew

The thing I find myself repeating is how worthwhile it can be to add the right active serum at the end of your LED or laser treatment. I like applying CoQ10 as that final, concentrated step before you leave the clinic, particularly because I generally want you to keep your skin very simple that evening and not start layering products over it at home.

So rather than doing more to your skin that night, we give it this additional dose in the clinic and let the CoQ10 remain on the skin and continue doing its job while you leave it alone. It's a simple way of getting more from the treatment you've already invested in.
